The meeting for Monday, March 11, will be "My feet hurt! What’s weight got to do with it?".
Special guest speaker for the evening is Pamela Jensen-Stanley, DPM, Cumberland Foot & Ankle, who will discuss how weight affects our feet. She will review basic gait biomechanics and will discuss the changes that often occur with increased body weight, including: plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, and PTTD. Dr. Jensen-Stanley will also talk about edema and skin changes that occur as well as common workout foot numbness and traumas. She will wrap up the program with a discussion of proper foot care and will provide information about proper shoes and inserts. At the conclusion of the program, attendees will have the opportunity to win a pair of shoes or a pair of insoles in a door prize drawing.
